Travel Information for ICMDA Delegates Traveling to Uganda
We look forward to welcoming you to Uganda for the East Africa Regional Conference for Students and Junior Graduates.
We are pleased to provide you with some information that you may find helpful in preparing for your travel to Uganda.
Visa Requirements for Uganda
Currently citizens from 38 countries listed here https://www.immigration.go.ug/services/visa-exempt-countries don’t need a visa to enter Uganda, but they do need to have valid entry documents such as a government-issued ID.
Most of the East African countries, except Ethiopia, don’t need visas, but they do need to have valid entry documents such as a government-issued ID.
Citizens of other countries variably may require a visa to enter Uganda, and in such cases visas can be obtained on arrival at the entry port.

Applying for a Visa
In the event that you or any of your accompanying delegates require a visa to enter Uganda, you can apply for a visa online via this link: Immigration portal
You will have to attach the required documents and certificates. In most cases, you must submit a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The immigration authorities will email you a letter of authorization including a barcode. Print out the letter to show on arrival. Border officials will issue your visa. Alternatively, you can take the letter to a Ugandan embassy and they will issue the visa.

Vaccine requirements
To enter Uganda, you must have a valid yellow fever vaccination. When traveling to Uganda on a visa, you must bring the vaccination certificate you used to get your visa.

Additional Paperwork for Border Clearance
You may be required to provide information on the purpose of your visit to Uganda. In this case your invitation letter to the conference should suffice. Our Regional Office will email those letters directly to all registered delegate. In case you have not yet already received your invitation letter, you can email us on (info@icmdaeastafrica.net) or contact David Wayodi on WhatsApp (+254718310830) to request for it.
Airport Pickup
You can hire a taxi 24/7 for pick-up at Entebbe airport. Look out for genuine taxi operators whose cars are clearly marked with a yellow Airport Taxi label. You can also use your Uber App to order a taxi from the airport. The cost for a one-way trip varies some extent, but is generally around UGX 100,000 or 40 USD. It is advisable to pay in local currency because the cage is less in local currency.

Downtown Pickup
Most delegates traveling by public road transport will most likely be dropped off at a downtown location in Kampala. From this location, you can very easily get a private vehicle/taxi/Uber to take you straight to the conference venue or your place of accommodation, whichever is your preference.
